Travel Favorites: All the colors of the sky (Sunrises)

Do you get tongue tide like me, when people ask you for your favorite travel destination? Personally, I find it impossible to pick just one. I have been privileged to visit so many amazing places and honestly can appreciate every single one for different reasons. Food, architecture, history, uniqueness, culture, people… I can think of countless reason to fall in love with a city or country.

With that in mind, I thought of shedding some light on my travel favorites based on different categories. Hope you enjoy and please feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Favorite Sunrises: Hamburg (Germany)

As an adult, I lived in Hamburg (Germany) for 3 years, right before I moved to New York in 2019. And as much as I grew to love the people, I had a hard time accepting the weather. Being very close to the coast, it exhibits a clear oceanic climate and tends to be wet and windy most of the time. You have to make sure to dress accordingly to weather the frequent drizzle and cold winds or you will be miserable. Especially fall and winter tend to be grey and depressing with the wet cold creeping into your bones, making it hard to fully get warm.

Nevertheless, Hamburg has some of the most spectacular sunrises that I have ever seen anywhere. It might be due to where the city is located on the globe or the constant clouds being a great canvas, but the sun often paints the most magnificent and breathtaking morning spectacles in the sky. Luscious pinks, bright yellows, hints of purple… I regularly would stop dead in my tracks, still sleepy, but deep in thought and admire the gorgeous display of light and color. And for a moment I would feel grateful to get to witness the wonder of nature.
