Do you get tongue tide like me, when people ask you for your favorite travel destination? Personally, I find it impossible to pick just one. I have been privileged to visit so many amazing places and honestly can appreciate every single one for different reasons. Food, architecture, history, uniqueness, culture, people… I can think of countless reason to fall in love with a city or country.
With that in mind, I thought of shedding some light on my travel favorites based on different categories. Hope you enjoy and please feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comments.
Favorite Historic Sites: Italy
Ever since I was a child, I have been in love with history. I would devour every piece of information I could get my hands on and day dream about stepping into different time periods, trying to imagine what it would be like and how I would fit into them. Traveling and exploring the world, the next best thing to actual time travel is to wander historic sites. To me, they make history come back to life, make them tangible, real.
And one of my favorite travel destinations for that is Italy. The country is plastered with historic building and ruins from every time period since the antiquity. I love wandering through its cities and admire remnants of Ancient Rome or the Italian renaissance. Whether in Rome, Venice, Milan, Florence or Bologna, every street seems to hide new historic treasures and sites to enchant curious eyes.
How about you?
What is your favorite travel destination when it comes to historic sites?

You seem to have visited so many places. How lucky.
To me, it would have to be Tokyo (so far, my favourite trip).

I would like to say, both. I guess that is part of being an expat- to experience everything, right?

It’s no doubt that Italy is practically a walking painting filled with its millennia of history and architecture. I like Italy, but a close second who definitely be China, on top of having stunning and varied nature! Thanks for sharing once more!

Undoubtedly Italy is fabulous but we were blown away with how Turkey is such a living museum, so may amazing sites, not just the famous hugely visited ones, but amazingly preserved sites missed by the masses where you can be alone amongst incredible history.

I’ve only been to Istanbul, but I hope to return to Turkey one day when the political circumstances calm down again.
