Mindfulness: Focus on the present

Sometimes it’s hard to be present. We think about the past and dream about the future. We get lost in previous hurt and misunderstanding and get carried away by worries and fears about what might happen. You can pull yourself back to the here and now and realize all the blessings that you have been given. Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes it takes more effort. But no matter how hard it may seem, you can do it. And it’s worth it. The past is gone, the future is yet to come. Only the present is for certain. Focus on it and try to make the most of it.

  1. I’ve heard good things about Mauritius, and your photo of it confirms its beauty! I fully agree with you that we often get too caught up in the past and future, but hardly focus much on the present, on what we currently have and should be grateful for. I’ve found that traveling allows (forces) us to be in the present, to find our way through a city or enjoy a café by the street. Traveling shows us the little pleasures in life, and that makes all the difference in our happiness. 🙂

    1. That has also been my experience and is one of the (many) reasons why I love to travel. I love that it brings me back to the here and now and forces me to be present.
And Mauritius is indeed beautiful. If you ever get the chance to go, please take the opportunity. I went there for 1.5 weeks back in 2012 and loved it. I hope to take my love one day and share this magnificent island with him 🌊☀️💕

  2. Appreciate your post and the way you are are trying to make the best of the present moment. Just wanted to share a few points. The present moment is not any particular state of being but is just what it is at present. What ever you are at the moment is the present. You may be happy, worried, sick, sad or any other state. That is the present. Even the past and future are present ideas. So there is nothing you can do to bring yourself to the present as you always are in it. All we can do is be aware of the present and realise that your are a witness to this awareness. This way you will always be in the present and enjoy its benefits. Namaste.
